Lifestyle & Pooches: The Lagos Dog Fashion Show that Changed the Game!

“People are thinking!” is a statement I find myself blurting out frequently these days. I’m so often astounded and challenged when I see young people conceiving and implementing great ideas. Such is the case with Lily Aguiyi, the young Lady behind the dog fashion show, Lifestyle & Pooches. The event took place on the 16th of April, 2017 in Lagos.

We not only bring you amazing pictures of humans and their pooches but we also had a chat with Lily Aguiyi about the event.

Dig in!

Lifestyle and Pooches is such a catchy name, what is the inspiration behind the name?

Lifestyle and Pooches is an event organized by the company “Celeb Pooches” which means “Celebrating Dogs”. In that sense, we at Celeb Pooches decided to organize an event that brings out the Dogs to show the society that Dogs are not just in our lives for security purpose but much more and also to create a conducive environment for Dogs to come out and socialize. The name “Lifestyle and Pooches” simply means Dogs should be involved in every part of our lives such as being our friends, in our household (not security), in our fashion etc. People should see a dog lover and know immediately without asking.

What’s Lifestyle and Pooches’ vision?

I realized Dogs are not allowed in so many places in Nigeria so our vision is in years to come we can create a conducive environment and interesting play days/events for all dogs.

When did you first discover your love for canines?

Lily and her brother, Golden

I grew up having dogs around and watching my brother: Aguiyi Golden (who inspired my love for dogs) love, care, bath and feed them but I was not crazy about them. But when my brother had to go to the boarding house in secondary school, I had no choice but to care for them.

What did you hope The Lifestyle and Pooches Event will achieve?

There are so many people scared of dogs due to past incidents or recent news or for no reason. Hopefully, Lifestyle and Pooches can convert non-dog lovers to dog lovers.

Any personal dogs? Names and breeds?

Yes. I have 4 dogs.
Gucci: A Pug
Kim K: A Pug
Kimber: A Lhasa Apso
Kendra: A Samoyed

How easy/difficult was it for you to pull off this sort of unprecedented event- dog fashion show- in Nigeria?

The most difficult challenge was getting financially sponsorship for such an event which happens to be the first ever Family Dog Fashion Funfair in Nigeria but with God on my side I was able to pull through.

Should we expect more events like this?

Yes

Asides being a cynophile, who is Lily Aguiyi?

    I love love this!
Thanks for 8th amazing content DrGBaks.

I would like an article on the different breeds(common in Nigeria) with pictures.

For instance those twin dogs in the first picture are they Lhasa Apso’ s?

      Hi dear.

Thanks! Let’s see about that, shall we? 😁

I think they are Lhasas, but they can as well be Shih Tsus or Malteses. Those 3 breeds look very alike and only a trained eye or exerienced breeder can tell them apart.

I always look forward to your comments.
